Avast ye! This sad little pirate will be missing her rum this weekend as she’s still loaded up on painkillers (even a pirate can’t manage both), but this does give her a great opportunity to try the 100 rep challenge with her physio exercises plus the limited number of lifting exercises I can now do. Hey, if I can’t do many, I’ll just do ‘em loads of times! Maybe skip the dumbells and use pieces of eight?
As an adult Iwent to a fancy dress party dressed as a pumpkin. However I discovered upon arriving (to everybody else’s amusement) that I was the only one who had actually made the effort to dress up.
Yes, there is photographic evidence.

We’re pretty much all skull & cross bones all the time anyway (with girly skulls and sugar skulls tossed in for good measure. We’re a silly motley crew) but today?

Toddler Tornado always hath donned a plastic eye patch AND has a stuffed parrot affixed to her wrist.
And, if you could hear her garbled version of SHIVER ME TIMBERS I daresay you’d pee your pirate-self.

I was thinking who would look cuter in the tutu—one of my girls or hubby? He always dresses up as something crazy! This might be pushin’ it though! We have a pirate costume in the closet! It gets worn more than once a year ;)!!

Ummm…I have a corkscrew in the glove box, in each car, several in the kitchen, one in the dining room, and at least 2 in the camper. My first resistance effort today is not making any references to hammer and screw coming before or after wine. Don’t wanna have to be made to walk the plank…

Oh TA, I so have you beat in embarrassing Halloween costumes. Like the year I went as a mermaid, and the tail was a skirt, and someone stepped on it while I was walking…and I so did NOT have on Disney underpants…

OMG…I want the tutu! I met one of my best friends when we were 3 & 4 years old. We were in dance class together and I have photos of us in blue tutus! How fun would it be for her and I to wear tutus when camping in the summer?!?!? LOL

First of all, I semi read your poetry outloud to get the full gist. Then I click on the Cardboard Cat Chaise and laugh out loud. I am forwarding that on to the husband…he may honestly feel the need to replicate. Anyway, I think my coworkers think I am slight insane today with the mumblings and chuckles.

Wish I’d known about the cork trick in college. Woulda ingested fewer pieces of cork, probably.

2 hours of working out. Puhleeze. But, I guess if I had someone to do everything for me, I could do that too! Hell, if I could get someone to carry the laundry upstairs it would be a miracle.
Stupid fitness test on the elliptical machine annoyed me. It wants you to drop your heart rate from 150 to 120 and hold it there for 2 minutes. But if you stop, it resets itself, and if you keep going, heart rate does not drop. IT can walk the plank.
So, on Pirate Day are we supposed to watch all the Pirates of the Carribean movies?

Thanks for your thoughts on the Gweneth thing. I didn’t see the show, I only saw the exercise part on Oprah’s site. You say she says this isn’t for a role and isn’t her job. She’s smoking crack if she believes that. She may not be doing it for a specific role, but she will get many more offers if she is thin and tone than if she is soft and chubby. So it is part of her job whether she thinks so or not.
Madonna? I totally agree that those kind of exercises are not all she is doing to look the way she looks.

I can think of a million ways Id spend that other hour/12 hours a week.
(and that made me roll my eyes more than the 800 reps with the three pound weights. Madonna could do that all day every day and gain nary an ounce of muscle.)

gwen on oprah really bugged me. who has 2 hours in their day to workout like that? not me?
who has the cash to pay a trainer to come to their house every single day? Not me!
and what bugs me even more is that oprah DOES have that money is still not in shape/healthy. I love me some oprah, but this episode just irked me. She made it sound like ANYONE can do what she does (”I can hear the kids playing in the pool while I exercise.” Yea, sure, whatever!)

Then I become all obsessed with “Oh what did Gwyneth Paltrow say on Oprah?” and go to all those websites I try to avoid when I’m being productive. Then I get all riled up but also laugh a little because watching her bopping around prettily is pretty funny.
“No woman should lift more than 3 lbs” ????????!
So: Gwyn’s son is crying. “Come on,” she scolds him. “You know I can’t pick you up. You weigh about 10 times too much for that kind of nonsense.”

OMG. A tutu?! Don’t know what I would do with that. I would get in trouble for wearing it on the training floor, I’m sure. But I might try it anyway.

Even though I have two girlies who would die over the tutu, I would totally get one for me and play dress up with them- and I am sure my man wouldn’t mind seeing a little dressing up too…Besides, by getting one for me, I would be avoiding the fighting that would ensue over having one that they had to share. I’ve really thought this through.
And the directions for opening the wine bottle without a corkscrew? I needed that last night as we broke our corkscrew trying to finagle the cork out. Next time, next time.
