This is awesome! Mine is more an inspiration board. Images, quotes, art, a font I love, my word of the year, things I am grateful for (I have a picture of my feet when I could finally wear shoes again) I rarely move things off unless I am adding them to my journal. For example, when I was in the midst of some weird health problems I got a fortune out of a cookie that said, “Your strength will grow stronger by being tried.” I loved that! It sat tucked on my board for over a year until I was healthy again and then I glued it into my journal with some thoughts. So maybe mine is a holding place too. They really can be powerful!

  2. Carrie says:

This is perfect for me on a Saturday as I will make time this weekend to create my board.

    THANK YOU!!

  3. I have not done one of these yet. Need to! Love the concept. :)

  4. Hanlie says:

I love the extra facetime! My daily dose of Mizfit!

    I think it’s time I made some boards…

  5. Lance says:

    Hi Miz!

No gratitude board here either – and I love the concept! A great way to be reminded of that we’re thankful for in our lives. Thanks for sharing yours here today…

  6. bea says:

I love this idea and appreciate as Carrie said above your posting it on the weekend.
I think as a week day post I would like the idea but not move on it.

Today I am getting a board and starting.

    Love you Miz!!

  7. Kel says:

Wow. I am a very visual person; I think a vision board and a gratitude board could be good for me.

  8. Laurie says:

Why did I think I would be the first one to comment?
    LOL

I saw this video already when you posted it on twitter and it really helped me to get the concept.
Now I need to motivate to make my own board and n ot just watch about yours.
    :)

    have a great day!!

  9. Valerie says:

You know, I started my board completely in response to your original Facetime about yours, Miz – mine is more like Hannah’s, lots of different things – quotes that really move me or remind me of something important (many of which have come from this site), pictures of people I am particularly grateful for, reminders about behaviors I especially need to work on, even drawings my children have made me that especially warm my heart. LOTS of different things. I even have a copy of the Assertiveness Bill of Rights my therapist gave me up there, because it’s something I both need to remember, and something I am extremely thankful for. There are also goal-oriented things, such as the name and address of a particular literary agent I am hoping against hope will be mine, someday. :-)

So my board is sort of both Vision and Gratitude Board in one, I guess. If/when we move and I stop working full-time, I may separate the two, as then I will be putting the majority of my time into actually achieving my major dreams, and may want to become more specific and separate about the Vision Board. Right now, though, the board helps keep me centered and remind me of what’s really important.

  10. Mere says:

I have a gratitude board already after you posted about yours I finally made one.
I like the way you’ve incorporated different textures with the gratitude fabrics!

  11. the Bag Lady says:

Must get my board up and organized…. that sounds like a nice quiet pursuit while the Rancher sleeps today!

    Thanks for the reminder.

  12. Eve says:

    Oh well.
    Great minds think alike Denise!!

I was coming to leave the link but leaving with new gratitude board ideas.

  13. Annette says:

I haven’t yet! You have inspired me once again to get it together and do one. This is a kind of slow time of year so I have no excuse to NOT do one ;)

  14. Size Me says:

This idea is lovely in its noble simplicity to express how we are graced in our lives. I used to have something similar in college and my favorite item on there was a scrap that had a contact address for a faculty member on one side and the handwritten phrase “Bon Courage” (=French for “Take heart!” or “Be Brave”) on the other. We were studying abroad and he was our program director on site. I still have the scrap and it continues to encourage me.

  15. Alex says:

    This is so simple.
I need to get started and stop overthinking it!

  16. Biz says:

I think everyone should have a gratitude board or journal – if only to remind yourself how blessed you are that you have a roof over your head and good food on the table – so many people don’t even have that!

Hope you have a good weekend!

  17. josha says:

I bought a board after your first post about yours, but couldn’t decide whether to make it a gratitude or vision or both board. Then, for Christmas, my MIL gave me another board. I still haven’t done anything with them… :( Weekend project! I’ll post about it on my blog when I get it done!

  18. alyssa says:

I loved this follow up now I need to rewatch the other video!

    Have a good weekend!

  19. kikimonster says:

I seriously am going to put my vision board together TODAY. I’ve been putting it off for so long because I’ve been busy with work, but today is all about ME and this is one of my to dos.

  20. Miz says:

Feel free to send me video photo or simply wordmusings on your boards!

I’d love it for a future post:

  21. I don’t have a gratitude board but I do have a vision board that is a mix of weight loss/fitness stuff and business. It’s right in my office so I see it every day which helps. Not only do I have pictures of things, I have words that I cut out to keep me going.

  22. Kari says:

I want that tank top as well, please.
    Where is it from??

Thank you for sharing your board.

  23. Aw, thanks for the quick shot of your board! I loved it.

And today I am going to create my boards. (Rainy days are good for something!)

  24. ohhh! the fabric thing made me sniffle…. so beautiful and such a lovely lovely idea…

  25. Diana says:

    I like it! That’s awesome.

  26. Diana says:

Thanks for sharing just a quick peek. It’s nice to have an idea of what it may look like. I think I may try this.

  27. Nan says:

    I did mine!!!!!

    Thanks for the inspiration.

I will email you a photo.

    xo xo

  28. Rose says:

I love the idea of this. I have neither a gratitude or inspiration/goal board. It’s really a good idea though. Thanks for sharing!!

  29. Mary Meps says:

Great idea. I may do something like that with an album or journal or something. Thanks for inspiring some creativity. :)

I keep what I call a *wall of inspiration* over my computer monitor. It’s three photos that I framed that always fan my creativity. Have you ever seen printer canvas? I love this stuff. It’s not cheap, but it’s actual canvans for the printer. You can turn anything into a work of art.

  30. scale junkie says:

another fun idea is to put together a slide show of photos that take you back to special moments in time, moments that renew your spirit and fill you with joy.

  31. Sagan says:

For Christmas my aunt gave me a board to pin things on- right now I only have 2 things on there; a photo of my little cousins (the twins are already 4 months old!), and a photo of the little girl I sponsor through World Vision. I’m going to put more stuff on it (I’m thinking I need lotsa quotes and words!) and then I’ll take a photo of it to share.

I like how all-encompassing these boards are. Vision/gratitude/inspiration/memorial… they can be all of that and more.

  32. HangryPants says:

I’ve heard you talk about your vision and gratitude boards before and always thought it was great for you, but never thought about it for me. In the spirit of doing things outside my comfort zone I am going to start a gratitude and vision board of my own. It will probably be a small piece of notebook paper with a list, but I hope it will grow. You sound so excited when you talk about it.

  33. Helen says:

I kind of thought the concept was entirely hokey but seeing yours made me realize as much as I think my gratitude is fine all in my head a board might be a good idea.

I am very thankful for everything in my life yet I like how you have utilized textures etc. in your board.

    I may start mine today.

  34. Donnalouise says:

Hey Carla! Sorry I’ve been so absent for a few weeks. Those holidays through me so far off course – thankfully I think I’m finally getting back into the swing of things.

I have a question for you – would like to know your opinion – do you think it is possible to be addicted to food? Like cigarettes and alcohol…sorry if you’ve addressed this topic before. I honestly think that I’m addicted to food. If there is food around, I’ll eat even when I’m not hungry, I’ll eat until I get sick, and then…I’ll do it again without learning. I have an internal challenege every day to try and stay healthy and not just continuously eat. And it’s not just bad foods – I’ll eat anything in abundance.

What are your thoughts on food addiction? valid or excuse?

  35. Miz says:

    DonnaLouise? Emailed you.
More on my thoughts here in Viewer Mail.

  36. Love your post esp. because I have a blank foam core poster board waiting for me to transform.

My original thought was going to be a vision board but I love the gratitude idea too so I will make a combo :-)

We have a huge framed cork board similar to your board hanging on the wall next to the kitchen table that displays my girls’ artwork but we are going to add a “gratitude” section to it this week!

  37. BEE says:

    Thanks Miz!

Inspired me to finally do mine- I’m heading out to buy my cork board now! And I like that there isn’t anything materialistic on there, it reminds me that the important things aren’t the things that money can buy :)

  38. No board, I just leave my gratitude in messy piles around my brain–sort of like I leave my projects and to-do lists in messy piles around my desk!

Fortunately, disorganized gratitude seems to work fine, but I gotta say your board looks like a nifty way to approach it!

  39. Jamie says:

Two things: First off, I think it’s rather poignant that you have so much room on your gratitude board for expansion; that in itself is sort of a . . . what would you call it? Maybe a “vision” in that you’re acknowledging that you have so much more room to be grateful. Attracting more things for which to be grateful, perhaps.

And how about living day to day with the goal of making it onto people’s figurative (I would guess the great majority of people don’t have literal gratitude boards) compilations of gratitude? You know, they probably wouldn’t even be aware consciously that you’ve impacted them; it might not even stay with them. But to know that in a particular moment, you influenced someone for the better . . . I think that’s beautiful. I think that’s how I’d like to live my life.

  40. So many things about this post make me smile. You continue to encourage me to start having regular video posts on my blog. And today, you are also encouraging me to create my vision board (which is long over due) and a gratitude board. I have been posting my gratitude journal online every Friday, but I don’t have a visual/tangible board to look at every day. Thank you for continuing to be such an inspiration for me. I know I don’t comment all the time, but I’m reading and watching and listening and learning so much from you.
