I came by this morning and your comments were broken!

    Ill be back…

  2. Alyssa says:

    VERY FUN INTERVIEW!
I would love to meet Lisa in person some day.

And I want this book :)

  3. Ah, now I can comment!

I would ask her what first inspired her interest in cooking. :)

I’d love to win the book!

  4. Evan says:

I would love this for my girlfriend!
(And was really confused when I came by and couldn’t comment. Some might say I had a panic attack but I shall say confused :) )

A question? Doesn’t she ever get tired? She seems to work a lot!!

  5. Wow, great interview! Love the behind the scenes glimpse. It sounds like in order to have a wildly successful internet and publishing career, a lot of HARD WORK is involved.

Dang. NOT what I wanted to hear.

    And mmm, pancakes.

    No comment problems here, btw.

  6. ttfn300 says:

hmm, i caught “i allow myself pancakes once a year” :-/

  7. Erica says:

uh oh! Please rant away- hope everything is OK! Another great interview! I like that she rescues bunnies- too cute

  8. It’s always enjoyable to read about someone who’s made a career out of doing something she loves!

Hope your quandry resolves itself soon. If you need anything, I have both shoulders available. They’re very strong now. :)

  9. Katie says:

I admire HG as a woman who is an entrepreneur.
I wonder how many people told her she couldn’t do this and yet she still tried?

  10. Nan says:

    Your comments are fixed!!

I hate when your comments are locked :)

  11. Trish says:

    Nice interview, thanks Miz.

I was wondering how does Lisa come up with her recipes? Does she try and trry them until she gets it just right? Does she have a chef on staff?

I would love this book too by the way.

  12. Dana says:

Hope your quandry is really a small one. Would love to win the book. I need it…I need to learn to cook!

  13. Bettie says:

I love HG because she seems to accessible.

Have you seen her on twitter?
    Very fun.

I wonder the same thing as some one else:

Was it tough to get people to believe in you at first?

  14. Christine says:

I really want to try to see her when she visits NYC on the book tour!! I have the first Hungry Girl book (and LOVE it!!!) and can’t wait to buy the second!!

  15. JoanneS says:

I love when I open up and find you have another great interview – you always get the good stuff!
I married a chef who thoroughly believes tht ‘fat is flavor’ so it’s sometimes tough to convince him to cook healthier – I need all the help I can get!!
One question I would have like to hear an answer to is “C,mon, make us feel better, you cheat sometimes, right? C’mon you can tell us, we won’t tell?!” Pancakes onece a year?! That shames me – except with me it’s French Toast, and much more often than once a year!
Wish I could have the discipline to eat and workout as well as Hungry Girl and of course you, MizFit!!!

  16. Stacie says:

I’m a huge fan of both of you for different reasons.

How much do I love that she almost said you are her guru, too!!

  17. I loved learning more about the girl behind the hungry! Since what we mostly see is a cartoon it was really nice to see more into her life.

  18. tricia2 says:

I eat pancakes twice a month (with bananas and frozen berries). They have replaced turkey bacon and eggs as the yummy breakfast BK makes for me on the weekends.

I’m never 100% sure how I feel about HG. On one hand, it’s great, yummy food, lower calorie, etc. But on the other hand, it’s a bit too much like Weight Watchers and I’d like more comprehensive nutrition information. Overall though, I like her.

  19. charlotte says:

Well huh. I had no idea that Hungry Girl was a corporate entity. I always thought it was just one person (woman). It makes sense though that it’s a whole team.

    Your review page works great!

  20. Leslie says:

I would love to know as well what sparked her initial interest in cooking?

Did she cook and bake as a child?

  21. suganthi says:

Miz… just popping in to wish you well and hope all is OK.

  22. Lisa says:

Great interview! Thank you. I have been an HG subscriber for over a year and have turned many friends and family members on to it. I love the great recipe swaps and get a lot inspiration from the website. (and yours too Miz!) -Lisa

  23. well, I’ve always wondered if all HG’s fiber one recipes came from pure genius or if she was paid by fiber one to make them up… I hope she comes to Chicago!

i sorry ’bout the quandary… at least your header looks fab!

  24. MizFit says:

big thank you to MARA @ what’s for dinner for the fun new MizFitOnline header!!

    and the Fiber1 question.

I know the answer (Im 99% certain) but will see if we can get HG here to answer!

  25. BeckStein says:

Ooh…that was a fun interview…I can’t wait to get the cookbook…I’ll probably end up using some of the recipes for my NaFOS group.

I’m curious about the forthcoming rant…are you alright? Can I help with anything? Email me!

  26. I love the interview. I’m always interested in people’s offices. I want a bright, fun office of my own one day. I also didn’t know her staff was so big. I knew she had help since HG is so popular, but that was more than I though!

I would ask her more about how she got started. Was she interested in cooking at an early age (have I missed my window to be a culinary genius)? Things of that sort.

All that being said, I hope I win.!.!

  27. Kimberly Lee says:

Loved the interview, you asked a lot of insightful questions. I would ask HG “If you could meet one person (living/dead) who would it be and why?”. I got asked this question as part of a class project in college, and the answers that everyone gave were another glimpse into their heads. :-)

I hope, hope, hope I win this cookbook. And I am sure hubby would be grateful as my list of healthy receipes that I have not prepared is rapidly dwindling….

  28. Gena says:

Great interview! I can’t believe how much work she does, and makes it seems so easy!

  29. lisa says:

love the header and YAY you for the interview!!

my question to Hungry Girl would be after all her work, and testing and tasting, what is her ultimate, favorite, craving it now Hungry Girl recipe?

    xo

  30. Rosie says:

I would love to ask the HG how she got started. Its not everyday you get to see people who have made a living doing something they love… though it seems like its becoming more attainable through the internet :)

I usually end up improvising in the kitchen, so a new cook book would be awesome!

    Great interview!

  31. Diana says:

Great interview! It was interesting to peak into her life. I never knew all the things that she does (again, live under a rock). I will have to check things out more!

  32. Leah J. Utas says:

I’d ask why she does it and what she gets out of it on the personal, how it makes her feel level.

  33. Teresa says:

I’ve often wanted to know what her favorite recipe was? I know she loves Sushi, but if she wanted to cook her favorite recipe, what would she choose?

  34. Savannah says:

I loved finding out more about her already.
I had no idea her name was even Lisa ;)

  35. jen [@bwJen] says:

I love my daily Hungry Girl newsletters!! I am still amazed at how wonderful and informative each newsletter actually is!! Hungry Girl is a lifesaver – She taught me that you can EAT!! I have lost 27 pounds by eating!! Now I just know what and how to eat!!

Thanks Miz, the interview was great!!

    <3 Jen

  36. Oystein Lund says:

I always wondered about her love affair with canned pumpkin ;)

  37. debby says:

I am a Hungrygirl fan. Lots of her recipes are really delicious, and are things I never would have tried before.

  38. farmwife says:

I’d like to know what are the five must-have staples on her shopping list?

  39. Miz. says:

Oystein? That truly made me laugh out loud.
And farmwife? Yours made me think: DUH! Why did *I* not think of that!

    ;)

  40. Mich says:

I would have asked her what are her favorite and least favorite parts of the book-writing and publishing process.

  41. Evie says:

    Interesting interview!
I hadn’t ever even bothered to think about HG being a real person LOL

    I just read the newsletters!

  42. Alyssa says:

(Wow, there are two of us!)
Hope you’re OK!!!!!! If there’s anything you need, drop me a line!!!!!

  43. tfh says:

I love that staples question– I was wondering what we’d see if we opened up her cupboards/fridge right now.

(Actually, I had this on my mind because this morning I thought of you when I opened my own cupboard, MizFit. What can I say? There was a great sale on tuna…)

  44. Leslie says:

This was just great. I have been a Hungry Girl fan since the beginning. I have her first book and would love her new one!! Great job!!!

  45. Allison says:

I love a good rant, makes a blog more interesting.
I would be interested in the book. I just wish some of HG recipes had fewer artifical ingredients.

  46. Shelley B says:

I love HG and NEED her new cookbook!

I’d ask her if she would like to have her own show Food Network TV (please?!) or would that be spreading herself too thin?

  47. Thanks for the interview! HG herself is in NYC tonight. :)

HG has inspired many an idea/meal chez moi, so it is super exciting to have a chance at winning the book.

And please do rant if you feel the need, Miz. It’s your blog, after all!

  48. Interesting interview. I’ve never heard of anyone who rescues bunnies.

  49. erin says:

I would ask her if her husband eats her “diet” food.

  50. Nitmos says:

Ohhhh, I love a good rant. Go all Dennis Miller on us!

  51. luv luv luv the interview! Funny, I was just thinking last night how in the world Lisa keeps up with everything!

    Thanks for picking her brain!

  52. Julia says:

How fun would it be for Hungry Girl to interview you back???

  53. Allison says:

I’d love to win this book! And I’m wondering what the potential rant is about. :)

  54. Marste says:

Love the new header! How fun! And I’m with everyone else – hoping all is ok, and kind of wishing for a rant, at the same time. ;)

Great interview – I feel like Tricia2 does: I can never decide quite how I feel about HG (for me, it seems like a lot of processed food). But it’s been a while since I checked her out last, so I might have to go back to the site and look around again. :)

  55. Pubsgal says:

Another vote here for finding out what HG’s favorite recipe is!

Rant? Please to share with Bumbling Band! (Even though it does sound more than a wee ominous…)

  56. Rant! Rant! Rant!

Things are definitely changing up my way.

I’m with what Moonduster said–what first inspired her interest in cooking? I sometimes think I’d like to get more into cooking but then I remember how often I slice my fingers open when trying to use a knife. Oh, and can she use a knife without cutting her figners open and if so, how?

  57. Jess says:

Great interview. Her life sounds so interesting.

  58. erin says:

Aw, Miz, sorry you’re in a quandary. Hope everything gets unquandaried soon. :)

I would ask her what the grossest healthy food she’s ever eaten is.

  59. MizFit says:

TFH? this so made me laugh:

Actually, I had this on my mind because this morning I thought of you when I opened my own cupboard, MizFit. What can I say? There was a great sale on tuna…

    Me and my albacore huh?

And wonder if I should do a tour of MY kitchen.
I would….except Id feel compelled to organize & straighten it all—-and that is SO not happening.

  60. Graized says:

    Sup, Carla.

I remembered a month ago you asked for interview questions and mine was “what if you don’t like FiberOne cereal? Any other good cereal options?

I’m still thinking about writing that “fat man’s guide to yoga” for the magazine if you’re still looking for submissions. Are ya?

  61. Graized says:

    Oh, she’s like…officially sponsored, huh? Feh. nm….

  62. I read HG all the time & enjoy her posts & informational posts along with the food ones. I just enjoy reading her site.

    My question would be this:

I am not a processed/packaged/100 calorie pack eater food eater but I am guessing that her site is to help the general population make better choices. I noticed that many recipes tend to be higher in sodium than I would prefer, as well, as not as much protein (but that is just me). I see she is a WW person & puts those points out there. That is a good thing!

Does she eat like this or does she eat more whole grains, whole foods etc. like you & I do? Also, does she make any reference to those recipes that have more sodium & how to reduce that. When I share her recipes, if the sodium is higher than I think is good, I always point it out & tell people they can substitute lower sodium versions OR just change the higher sodium ingredient to something else.

    Thx MizFit!

  63. Geosomin says:

I like HG’s blog and would love to be in for the draw of the book…I could use some healthy recipes :)

  64. Gina says:

Almost bought this book yesterday! Would love to win it :-)

  65. Sagan says:

Great interview! I have a special place in my heart for HG.

A couple of things I’ve always been interested in knowing is how Hungry Girl became so amazingly successful! It’s really impressive. Also, I’d ask her if she eats those kinds of products on a regular basis… I’m curious as to if there are any “strict regulations” on what makes a food product HG worthy because so much of it is processed.

The book looks great and I always look forward to my emailed HG newsletter each day :)

  66. Leslie M. says:

I met Lisa the last book tour she was on in Atlanta! She is a lot of fun! She signed my book!
    Love her!!!!
    Leslie

  67. Sandwiched says:

    Fabulous interview…loved the Mad Libs!

I’d ask her what her favorite HG recipe of all-time is.

  68. Mary Meps says:

    Great interview.

Her green bean casserole has saved Thanksgiving. LOL

  69. Marianne says:

I was 4 lines in before I decided she had no children…

She is amazingly creative and fun!

  70. Hillary says:

Miz you are SO creative with those Mad Libs.

    I’d forgotten about those.

  71. Maggie says:

LOVE HG. The trick about not finishing indulgent meals is good… but so hard to implement! I agree that when I’m traveling/on vacation I eat less though. I’m not thinking about food, I’m thinking about having fun!

  72. josha says:

We’re bunny people up in herre. I’d ask what kind her little bunny friend is??? And what does she feed it to keep it healthy for 9 1/2 years?????? That’s an impressive lifespan for a Bun.

  73. Quix says:

Love Hungry Girl, and I’ve tried a few of her recipes with great success, though I can’t get down with the tofu noodles like she does…

And I agree, when it’s vacation, I indulge (though I try not to stuff myself), but I’m usually just as if not more active anyway so it balances out.

  74. Ms. V says:

Um. You can’t go away. Or change. I’m really serious. I will pout.

  75. MizFit says:

thankfully this change Im so very confident you shall NOT care about…
    I promise :)

  76. I actually have 2 copies of the book on the way already from Amazon, so no need to enter me in the contest. I just wanted to post a comment about the interview.

I always knew I liked Hungry Girl. I’ve been a subscriber to her emails for YEARS. Heck, I even have some of her old temporary tattoos floating around my house somewhere that she mailed to me eons ago. Anywho, after seeing she has rescue bunnies just makes me love her all the more! I <3 bunnies!!!!

  77. Love your new header! It looks great! :)

  78. hyang says:

I love HG! Her product reviews are awesome.

  79. jayme says:

Thanks to HG, I was able to pick healthy choices of grocery items

  80. June says:

I would love to own a copy!

  81. junghwa says:

I was wondering how HG discovers or finds all those great “diet” items.

  82. MackAttack says:

I love HG! I was wondering if she gets sick of her staples?

  83. Debra says:

As always, inspiring and lots to think about. Hope all is well with YOU Miz. Thanks for all you do.

  84. I don’t have a question. But I did the tip on if she’s eating out while traveling and it’s not healthy food she eats 1/2.

    I can do that!

  85. Myra says:

    Hi Miz,
Just finished the taxes and popped in for a nightcap. I love HG. I love her newsletters everyday. You and HG send me e mail everyday! Great if I’m feeling lonely.
Like I said, I just finished my taxes so I could use a copy of the book since I have no money left!

I have to wait though to get my book if you don’t pick me because I can’t eat my beloved Fiber One until Passover ends!! Alas! Matza does n ot pack the punch!

  86. Robor says:

    Greatings,
Amazing! Not clear for me, how offen you updating your mizfitonline.com.

    Thanks
    Robor

  87. why is it that every one likes cooking what is in cooking by the way……
