Food Glorious Food

I give you the amazing and amazingly POPULAR Veggie Girl!

She’s vegan.

She’s gluten-free.

She’s soy-free.

She’s high-raw.

And has finally found the way of eating which helps her to manage her Crohn’s Disease.

She has a passion for nutrition, cooking/baking, food photography, animals, fitness (yoga & strength-training), writing, and MUCH more.

She’s also (I know!) juggling school (journalism major) & leaning towards a career in broadcast journalism.

MizFit note: click the video and POOF! Veggie Girl gets bigger.

And, if you want a serving of MizFit today, Im blogging over at Yahoo! (yada yada yada please to comment there if you can.)

  3. Yum Yucky says:

Forgive me, but she doesn’t *appear* to be well or thriving and I think its her diet.

  4. Bea says:

Oh and I liked the video and LOVE reading VeggieGirl.
She had such a big fan base!

  5. Tom Rooney says:

VEGGIE GIRL IS AMAZING! i’m one of her biggest fans! :D

  8. VeggieGirl is very popular at our house. My husband now refers to VeggieGirl TV as his Saturday morning cartoons. He’s a huge fan after receiving a batch of her amazing blondies.

I’ve met some amazing people through blogging, and VG is definitely one of the most considerate, kind, thoughtful, and encouraging bloggers out there. Love her!

  9. Girl on Top says:

going to check her out! btw, you have an awesome bod. what is your training like?

  10. Sagan says:

Can’t view the video from this computer but must add my voice to the masses in saying that I *heart* VeggieGirl!

Also don’t have a Yahoo account but I very much enjoyed your article- I have horrible sleeping problems, and I do all those things, but I found that since I started taking aikido and doing the breathing exercises its definitely helped me out a bit.

  11. Bea says:

    FYI:
I took me two minutes at yahoo.com to get an email acct (I’m not ever going to use it LOL) and comment.

  12. charlotte says:

For some reason google video and firefox combined won’t let me see the vid but I’m sure she’s veggie-rific. Although I have to say that I’ve heard of “raw” but not “high raw” – what is that?

  13. VeggieGirl says:

    **Charlotte:

Since I follow a high-raw diet, I consume mostly raw foods with a portion of cooked foods. To be more specific, I consume about 80-90% raw foods (10-20% cooked foods) during the warmer months, which decreases to about 70% raw (30% cooked) during the colder months.

This is true/what works for me – not all high-raw foodists follow the same percentages; and a high-raw diet may not be for everyone.

  14. Merry says:

Sadly, I’m also having problems accessing the video. It seems like a contradiction to have a passion both for baking and for raw foods, but I’m sure that’s explained.

And thanks for finding a new cool blog to check out! I’m usually not inspired to do any actual baking myself, but Whole Foods had a section of frozen stuff that was gluten free — I was surprised at how tasty it was.

  15. Merry says:

See, if I’d waited a minute longer, my comment would have become superfluous :(

    Thanks Veggie Girl!

  16. tfh says:

Cool! One of my close friends has struggled with Crohn’s. VeggieGirl, good for you for managing it and taking care of yourself while sticking to your moral beliefs.

Confession: I’ve totally lurked (and drooled) on your site for a loooong time now. If I could bake like you, I’m afraid I would be very low-raw. ;)

  17. K says:

    Hooray for VG!!

  18. dragonmamma/naomi w. says:

I checked out your website, and you have some fantastic sounding recipes! I feel better when I minimize the grains, so it’s great to find some other options.

  19. Yay for VeggieGirl – she has been good to me. :)

  20. s says:

veggiegirl, you rule! i’m a regular reader of both these blogs :)

  21. dragonmamma/naomi w. says:

Hey, Veggie Girl, I’m lost. I’m drooling over the photo’s on your website, but I can’t find the recipes! When I click on a photo, all I get is an enlarged photo. Where are the recipes?!

  22. cher says:

if you can’t access the video here, go to Veggie Girl’s website that MizFit gives the link for. As far as her not looking healthy, please keep in mind, she has Crohn’s Disease, and that takes a terrible toll on the body. i have to give her props for trying to keep it in check with her nutrition. i have a friend that has it, and he eats like crazy and STILL looks that frail and pale.

  23. josha says:

Amazing and wonderful that you have been able to find a way to manage Crohn’s Disease! That’s a tough one! It’s inspiring to see people not give up but just determine to find answers for themselves! My son doesn’t have Crohn’s, but has food intolerances and has to be many-things-free, including gluten. Ya just have to figure it out on your own, don’t ya? Kudos.

  24. Ariel says:

    I love VeggieGirl! :D

  25. My aunt has Crohn’s disease & she is in her late 70′s & has lived with it from an early age. It is a very tough disease. She has had to have a lot of iron transfusions along the way.

I am going to send this site to her.

    Thx!

  26. Jens Upton says:

    Hiya

I love veggie food and have been healthily eating many raw food goodies for many years.

    All the best to veggiegirl

    Thanks
    Jens

  27. So glad I discovered VeggieGirl through your blog, MizFit!

Loved the video. As someone battling an autoimmune disease myself, I understand the vital importance of a healthy diet in healing. Regrettably, many physicians don’t agree. It’s easier to prescribe a battery of meds than to monitor a patient who wants to try a natural dietary approach instead. Pity.

  31. Merry says:

    Great video!
Thanks for tweaking, Miz. Rebooting seemed to fix the prob. Otherwise, I would have suspected a PEBCAK.
