Maybe a relic of my only high school sports experience (high school football team!). But I didn't incorporate any kind of cardiovascular exercise; I would do a 1-2 mile jog about twice a year, promising myself that I was going to get into running. However, I LOVED lifting weights.College, same story. I would go to the gym, spend 10-15 minutes on the recumbent bike (to warm up), then lift weights for an hour and a half. I loved weights for all the reasons that you do: I liked being bigger. I liked feeling powerful. I liked being stronger and more skilled than the dumbass men doing stupid things (no, really stupid things) with barbells. And maybe I secretly knew that I was going to need awesomely defined arms if I were going to be a lesbian and attract the perfect woman ;-)Now? I am doing well if I can force myself to get into the weight room for two sessions a week. And most of my weights work isn't about strength or power or size or tone or any of the things that used to make me feel empowered--most of my exercises are corrective and rehabilitative so that I can continue to swim, bike, and run.And I'm not sure why that is :-\

I don’t know what’s happened to me, Miz. I was thinking at least #2, but most likely #1. :-)

Congratulations on the publicity. I love feeling powerful and strong and it gives you a great sense of accomplishment when you move up in weight - you realize you're making progress. I don't want to be a soft, saggy, skinny person - I want to be strong, toned and in proportion! Strong women are sexy!

I’m with you on the weight lifting. Sometimes I get lazy with my lifting workouts but always incorporate it in most of my classes that I teach. Love seeing those veins pop.

I love to lift.
