VFFs my new BFFs? (almostwordless Wednesday)

I love my Five Fingers.

Ive worn em as dress shoes.

Ive worn em to frolic in the grass.

Ive worn em to lift.

Ive worn em to amble slowly on the treadmill.

Ive worn em to stretch in.

Ive worn em to hang with the little people.

Ive worm em out for coffee with friends.

Ive worn em to various & sundry other appointments.

Ive worn em with the husband whilst he sported his.

And at long, long last I used em for their ‘purpose’ & took em out here:

To be continued…

Is that like toe socks where, if you have wide toes, it’s not going to happen unless you want to cut off circulation and lose said toes?

  2. Hannah says:

    YAY!
I’ve been waiting for this post as I am longing for a pair too.

    How was the run??????

  3. MrsFatass says:

For some reason this post just tickled me. Love the photos. Can’t wait to see how it ends.

  4. Yum Yucky says:

hahaha! that’s good enterTAINment in the morning! I wish my Flintstone-looking feet were in the pic too – that means we’d be hanging out.

  5. Erica says:

Sounds like a thorough test run to me :) Can’t wait to read more

  6. Tia says:

A guy I work with has a pair and he is like you are (were?).
He wears them for every thing but running and he is a runner.

Is there a reason you waited?

  7. Bea says:

    OK
if these get your SEAL OF APPROVAL I’m getting a pair!

    Can’t wait.

  8. Nan says:

I have wanted these too yet wasn’t sure I could use them for anything but running.

    I look forward to more.

  9. i saw someone running in them last weekend! Cool! Can’t wait to hear what you thought…

  10. I love the pink ones! Those are the ones I want!

  11. Evan says:

You two are such a cool funny couple.

My wife would not hang with me in those shoes—let alone wear a pair.

  12. Roxie says:

Love the pics. Am now hanging off a cliff by my toes awaiting the next installment!

  13. Lara says:

    HOW FUN!

I like you have joined the Wordless Wednesday.

    In a MizFit way.

    Can’t wait for more.

  14. dragonmamma says:

Love that group photo with the crocs and the gold sandals. “Who’s the fairest of them all?”

  15. Tammy says:

Are you planning to do Las Vegas in your VFFs?

    LOL at the BFFs :)

  16. Nicole says:

!am so jealous! My aunt has black ones and her kids call ‘em The Gorillas. Must. Purchase. Tomorrow…

  17. Good one!

They certainly look comfy..I just worry about stepping on a pebble…wouldn’t that hurt?

  18. Oooh, can’t wait to find out if you feel faster or better or stronger in them.

  19. Kristine says:

Is it sad I am a little envious of your IRL friends?

Must mean its blogger meetup time.

    FiveFingers or not.

    You decide ;)

  20. Looking forward to your report. They just look uncomfortable to me.

  21. Fitarella says:

How was the run??!! Spill it!! How are your calves???

  22. See I’d love to try VFFs, but I’m not sure I’m strong enough yet!

  23. BK says:

Cute!!! Can’t wait for your review. I’m still sticking to my asics lol

  24. Katherine says:

I want to hear all about your experience running in those! I am never going to go barefoot running on the roads with everything that could get stuck in my skin but those things look neat! I don’t know if I’d like the toe-separation, though.

  25. MizFit says:

    I have zero selfcontrol either.
Im officially banned from buying any gifts for people until the DAY BEFORE the occasion as I run IMMEDIATELY up to them and shout what Ive made or purchased.

Im so so so going to save my experiences and thought and ALL THAT JAZZ till next week.

    I think I can.
    I think I can.
    I maybe can?

  26. Cute pics but I am cringing looking at them! I cannot stand things between my toes and remember the days of toe socks. Ugh.

  27. If nothing else, I bet, wearing a pair of these, I could strike up a whole lot of interesting conversations. I soooo want to hear what kind of comments you’ve had while wearing them. They actually look really comfy.

  28. Andrei says:

The first time I saw them I thought they looked silly. But I keep on reading great reviews about them makes me overlook the goofy look. May have to give them a try.

  29. Tena says:

They look so cute. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

  30. Leah J. Utas says:

They look interesting. I am guessing they’re comfortable?

  31. I just loved those pics!!!!!!!!!!! I want more! :-) Me, not gonna happen with my bad feet though. Can’t wait to see what you think about it!

  32. Shelley B says:

Wow, that first picture makes your legs look a million miles long! I will buy those shoes if I, too, can become tall!

This is a very cute post and you obviously had a lot of fun in these crazy shoes – I cannot wait to hear if you liked running in them!

Vegas would be fun…my husband would totally be up for a trip there; not sure my check book nor my legs would be so soon after Galveston (and another beach trip that I’m not mentioning yet!).

  33. Desert Agave says:

What a fun post! I too am looking forward to the next installment.

  34. Shelley says:

Adorable post, and I think I recognize one of those feet :)

I’ve wanted a pair for a while – my husband and dad both love theirs. Love the pink, too!

I’ve seen someone wear them for rock climbing….this idea intrigues me.

  35. Aimee says:

I love the post and am on the fence with the shoes. I’ve tried them on a bunch of times haven’t taken the plunge yet.

Eager to see if they earn the MizFit seal.

  36. Gayle says:

LOVE! Wondering if they would help with foot traction in power yoga?

  37. Sagan says:

    Hehehe. They look like fun!

  38. Jennifer says:

I have them in grey and my boss calls them gorilla feet:)

  39. Ren Man says:

I really like mine. However, in this Texas heat, I don’t think I’d want to stand in a parking lot for very long–you can feel the heat radiate up through the thin soles. Walking across a parking lot isn’t a problem (I haven’t run in them yet).

  40. Kimberley says:

I am glad you are loving them…but they give my toes the shivers. I don’t even wear thong sandals. Eek!

  41. I’m excited to read your review. I want them but I’m umsure.

  42. 'Drea says:

I love the color and I think they look alien-cool. When I was on jury duty, I saw this guy wearing them — first time that I laid eyes on them…They were definitely a conversation starter.

  43. Great post. I’m sending it to some friends!

  44. We picked some up for my husband (the king of barefooted men) last Saturday. He’d been obsessing since we saw a girl in Qdoba wearing them.
Best investment I’ve made in a long time.
    He LOVES them.

  45. Colleenzo says:

I got my pair in the mail this week! Used them for weightlifting on Tuesday and softball on Wednesday, and so far I’m loving them. The closer to barefoot the better, is my motto!

  46. Meredith says:

I feel as though I live in a cave now :)
I have never seen these before and will commence googling.

  47. tj says:

:) I love that you are rocking the PINK ones! :)

  48. Kate says:

I saw a lady at the gym wearing those shoes…and I wondered about how comfortable they are. I have a pair of sicks with individual toe holes, and the fabric between my toes drives me crazy. So I’m guessing these shoes might not be for me? But they sure are cute :)

  49. Jess says:

    1) THE FACT THAT REN MAN HAS VFFS ROCKS!
    2) The fact that you and your hubs both have leg pieces. AWESOME.
    3) The fact that you’re breaking outta the box and running in VFFs: Fantastic :)

    Enjoy.

Remember: stealthy like a predator, quiet like an animal on the prowl. And most importantly, have fun!

  50. A girl at my gym has these and I am very tempted to get them now! I dont love working out in sneakers and with socks I feel I slip alot. These look like a great solution. Cant wait to try them!

  51. Kat says:

I want to try them now!! I registered for Las Vegas last night. So excited! And a little scared, this is going to be a stretch, but I am comforted that there is time to walk if I need to…:-) I am looking forward to meeting you in person and giving you a great big hug!!

  52. Ack! I can’t wait to hear more about this, I can’t stand the teaser! But the photos are super fun – thanks for sharing.

  53. Tricia says:

WTG, Carla! I knew you’d warm up to ‘em with just a little time! I’m loving my Brooks Green Silence, but still can’t give up my VFFs! Decided I’d use my VFFs for shorter runs up to 1/2 marathon (if I ever do one) and my Brooks GS for anything longer than that!

    Another minimalist convert! YAY!

  54. Hi,thanks for the great quality of your blog, each time i come here, i m amazed.

  55. I fand a very cheap vibram five fingers online store,Here http://www.vibramwebsite.com.
the owner claim that The lowest price is around 50 dollars. On orders over 2 items with the more discount.

  56. I think they are darling on you – what isn’t? For me? I’m just not sure if I can. What would people think?!!

  57. I would love to try these, I just have trouble justifying the cost.

  58. Sheryl says:

Oh my gosh, I’ve never seen those before, they are very strange. Are they comfortable? They look like they’d be uncomfortable!

  59. Hanlie says:

If I get this job I’m definitely buying some! (Things like that is usually about 2-4 times more expensive over here than there).

  60. Meredith says:

I am wondering too about the between the toes!
I don’t think I could walk in them let alone run :)

  61. paula says:

    Miz

Thank you for your words of encouragement in the comment section on my blog. Your comments always cheer me up and move me forward. Just wanted to say you’re my SHERO!. Means alot to me. BTW– I was looking at your post yesterday with your cool shoes and my grandson was right behind me and he was so excited. He said “Grandma, she’s got pretty pictures on her leg.” He was so excited.

    Your rock
    Paula

  62. Karianna says:

I love my VFF. But mine didn’t bleed on my feet like they did for you. (I have aqua KSOs.) I’ve run one race in them, but mainly use ‘em for treadmill runs.

  63. Mary says:

I can’t wait to get vibrams and move more to barefoot style and eventually barefoot! I am excited to see more on these girl!

  64. zorba says:

Sweet!! How did you get the red ones?? I didn’t think they came in women’s sizing. I got mine and LOVE them as well, but I had to get the slate/whatever colour because I didn’t think I could get the red ones in my size. Love your red ones!

  65. Oooo! I know another lady who is training for a half marathon in VFFs and sings their praises. I’m interested to hear what you think of running in them!

  66. Shannon says:

ooh, i’m totally thinking about the vibrams now! i somewhat recently started running in shoes that are also supposed to promote a more neutral foot-strike and i like them. but i have had to do alot of work to strengthen my feet and try and prevent things that my orthotics made all to easy. very interested to see what else you have to say! i look forward to “continued” :) happy 4th miz!!

  67. Suzeeeeeee says:

Just bought a pair of Vibram Sprints……….had to take them back after just 1 use (running on the beach)….started to come apart!!!!!!!!!!! So exchanged them and gonna try my newest pair this week. If these too come apart…..UGH!

Okay…so tonight is the first time I’ve been to your blog. One of my new year’s resolutions this year was to work towards a more healthy body and lifestyle. I found your blog while looking for info on chia seeds. I think I <3 you! :D

    Anyway…so why I'm commenting on this post…

I LOVE LOVE LOVE VFFS!!! I have a pair of Sprints as well and am impatiently waiting on the arrival of my brand spankin new Bikilas! I first heard about vibrams in January. In May I bought my Sprints (I tend to research a lot before I buy and I was just starting out on my healthy lifestyle so it was hard to sink that much money in shoes that have toes!). I wore them EVERYWHERE until about three weeks ago when I added running (er…jogging really) in them. I have never been a runner and have always suffered from ankle, knee, and hip pain. I mean…seriously…the week I started running in them I ran my first 1/4 of a mile without slowing to walk. How sad is that?! I was overjoyed! So here I am 3 weeks later waiting for running specific VFFs so I don't wear out my everyday shoes!

Anyway…now that I've written a book for you I'll leave you with a grin and my hope that you enjoy your vibrams!!!

    Meg
